Live Preview

Main Window

On this tab the user can define the picture quality, network transfer mode and behavior of the Live Preview window.

Higher resolution / no compression means lower frame rate due to the higher amount of data which has to be transferred over the connection link which has a limited bandwidth of up to 480 Mbps (USB 2.0) or up to 100 Mbps (Ethernet / LAN). Compressed picture transfer with the native Visualizer resolution normally provides the best results for most applications.

To recall the default settings for this dialog tab, click "Reset settings". The other tabs of the "Preferences" dialog box are not affected.

Streaming Live Preview

The normal picture transfer mode is available for all Visualizers which are connected over USB or Ethernet / LAN.

For certain Visualizers connected over Ethernet / LAN also the network stream "UDP Multicast" and "UDP Unicast" is available. note

Use network stream transfer if the device supports it

In order for the network stream (UDP Multicast or UDP Unicast) to work properly, the firewall and network settings have to be adjusted to allow UDP data transfer through the ports (8800 and 8801 by default). Ask your network administrator for more details.

If the connected Visualizer supports this transfer mode it is the most suitable way to capture pictures form the Visualizer. The best setting for "Capture Resolution" depends on your needs. A higher capture resolution will result in a lower frame rate. The used bandwidth of your network can be defined with the "Frame Rate" selected resolution and format - see OSD Menu to change the settings. note

Default values for Live Preview windows

Save Live Preview size and position note

When the box is checked, the software will keep the last size and position of Live Preview window. The size and position will be stored for each used Visualizer individually.

Display device state information note

When this box is checked, a pop-up message of currently performed actions like recalling presets will be shown in the Live Preview window.

The messages will be shown according the set OSD Level in the on-screen menu (Talk, Verbose or Quiet) - see OSD Menu

Use device description as Live Preview title

By default the model name with firmware version and serial number will be used as window title. To define your own individual title, please edit Device Description and check this box (long texts will be shorten).

Power on device if Live Preview is opened note

Check this box to be sure the unit is fully powered up even when it was in standby mode.

Monitor device power state while Live Preview is open

In case the Visualizer will be power cycled (soft power off/on) during Live Preview is running, the Live Preview will be frozen as long as the Visualizer is in standby.

When this box is empty, the Live Preview stays frozen until Live Preview icon on the ribbon will be clicked to resume.

Auto start Live Preview after disconnected device got reconnected

Check this box and the application will try to resume the Live Preview when the Visualizer was disconnected and re-connected during active Live Preview.

Switch light on if Live Preview is opened note

Check this box to ensure best picture quality which will be usually reached when built-in light is switched on (not available on SCB-12 and EYE-12).

Picture transfer as JPEG note

When checking the box, the captured pictures will be transferred as JPEG compressed pictures. You can adjust the picture quality by moving the "Picture Quality" slider to the desired position (four quality levels are available).

A lower picture quality will result in a higher compression level of the picture which will reduce the amount of data to be transferred over the connection link. This will automatically increase the frame rate but the picture quality will be decreased.

Compare Live Preview

Compare Live Preview with static image

When checking the box, the Live Preview will be extended to compare the current running stream to a local stored static image see - Compare Live Preview with static image
